Tree felling
In Bolton-Est, tree-cutting is subject to strict regulations, and a certificate of authorization is required in the majority of cases where cutting is permitted.
Cases where felling is permitted
- The tree is dead or diseased.
- The tree is dangerous.
- The tree is causing damage.
- Public works require felling.
- The tree is in a construction zone with a permit.
- The tree is in the right-of-way of a proposed street.
Do I need a permit?
- Yes, in most cases.
- No, if :
- The tree has a diameter of more than 10 cm and the cut is less than 10% of the commercial stems in rural or agro-forestry areas.
- The tree is in a new construction zone with a permit.
Permit Application Process
- Fees apply.
- Complete the form and provide the required documents.
- Your application will be evaluated by an inspector within 30 days of receipt of a complete application.
- Please note that you will need to present yourself in person to pick up your permit.
- The permit is valid for 3 months (cutting ≤ 10%) or 24 months (cutting > 10%).
- The permit lapses if work does not begin within 6 months of its issue.
