Community garden
Created in spring 2018, the Bloomfield Community Gardens are located in Terrio Park, right in the heart of the municipality. They promote education, healthy eating and local agriculture.
Objectives
- Local production: Encourage the cultivation of local vegetables and reconnect with our traditions.
- Food security: Contribute to the region's food security.
- Ecological gardening: Promote chemical-free gardening practices.
- Community cohesion: Bringing generations together and strengthening community ties.
- Education: Offer theoretical and practical training in gardening.
How it works
- No pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
- Mixed plots :
- Individual: For families wishing to garden.
- Collective: For community kitchens.
- An area is also dedicated to medicinal plants.
- Dimensions: Approx. 7 x 20 feet.
- Annual contribution: $30 for access, tools, water, compost and mulch.
- Collective chores: In spring and fall for maintenance and new projects.
Registrations
- Registration takes place every spring for the coming season.
- Priority is given to gardeners from previous years.
- Payment: $30 per lot, in person at Town Hall (debit, cheque or cash) or by mail (cheque payable to the Municipality of Bolton-Est).
