Commitees
HERITAGE, CULTURE, AND RECREATION
The committee has planned the following activities :
- Members of the East Bolton amateur choir will meet on Sunday, September 10th at 4 :00 p.m. the Town Hall. Everyone is welcome.
- A Christmas concert will be held at the St-Patrick’s Church on Saturday, December 9th to benefit the Butters Centre.
- The children’s Christmas party will be held on December 17th from 2 :00 to 4 :00 p.m. at the Town Hall.
Following questions from members of the committee, the council has adopted a policy for publication of events in the « Insight ». The objective is to publicize community events, at no charge, if they meet the following criteria :
- the event must have a clear objective;
- there must be no entrance fee nor obligation to buy products or services;
- should such be the case, the event must be organized by a non-profit organization.
INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE
The replacement of the culverts on Lake Nick road at the exit of Long Pond will begin on September 11th and continue until October 10th. During this period, Lake Nick road will be closed to traffic.
The work being done at the site of the Terrio road park is taking longer than expected due to a scheduling problem with the contractor.
PRINCIPAL RESOLUTIONS
WINTER ROAD MAINTENANCE CONTRACT
Following the opening of bids, the contract for snow removal on municipal roads was awarded to R.T.D. Enr. for a period of three years.
ECO-CENTRE
The municipality continues to pursue its efforts, in concert with the other municipalities of the north-west sector of the MRC, to establish an eco-centre to serve all our ratepayers. The work group mandated for this purpose has identified a potential site for the eco-centre which is under study. The municipality has named Viateur Audet as its representative and Jane Wardle as his replacement, to continue its study.
MISSISQUOI VALLEY ECO-DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
The council accepted the report submitted by project manager Suzanne Montel. This report included an inventory of sporting resources available in the Missisquoi Valley.
MAYOR’S REPORT AND CORRESPONDANCE
- A complaint was received concerning excessive speed on Routes 243 and 245 in South Bolton. Given that the Ministry of Transport has jurisdiction over these roads, the complaint will be transferred to them and this information will be sent to the person who registered the complaint.
- The Trouser Lake landowners Association has invited us to attend their first meeting which will be held on Friday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall in St-Étienne-de-Bolton. The Association’s goal is the protection of the lake.
- The Brome-Missisquoi inter municipal dump site is hosting an open house on Saturday, September 16th during which dangerous domestic goods and other items can be deposited
