Our Council Meetings and Commitees

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NOVEMBER 9TH, 2009 COUNCIL MEETING

The mayor, 6 councillors, and 25 citizens were present

Heritage and Culture
The planning of this year’s Christmas activities is well underway.

A Christmas Market will be held on November 28th and 29th at the Town Hall, featuring local artists and artisans. Natural Christmas trees and wreaths will also be on sale, and the profits will go towards activities for young people in our community.

The Seniors’ supper will take place on December 13th.

Environment
A resolution was adopted to send a letter of congratulations to the Friends of Trousers Lake Association (ALT) for their beautiful colour posters.

The committee discussed various action plans for 2010, namely a mobile eco-centre, ways to control erosion, energy efficiency, protecting the bee population, energy efficiency, and waste management.

The committee will study requests for funding from the associations which protect our lakes and watercourses at the next meeting, which will take place on November 16th.

Someone asked for clarification about the definitions of municipal inspector and building inspector.

One citizen worried about the state of Bellevue Road and asked if it would be a priority for the new Council in 2010.

One citizen asked about light pollution.

In order to avoid the problem of garbage left in ditches, one citizen recommended that warnings about fines be put up in certain places, as well as an article in the Insight about the cost of supplementary garbage pickups.
