Our Council Meetings and Commitees

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NOVEMBER 6TH 2006 COUNCIL

The pro-mayor, 4 councillors and 2 citizens were present.

COMMITTEES

ENVIRONMENT
Mrs Ginette Breton attended an information session on October 10th 2006 in Sherbrooke on the topic of the role of municipalities in the protection of rural landscapes.  
The Environment committee met on October 16th 2006.
Mrs. Jane Wardle, Ginette Breton and Claudette Rodrigue as well as Mr. Bernard Berger and Gaetan  Forgues were present.
The following subjects were addressed:

  • RAPPEL’s study of lake Nick and its tributaries;
  • The christening of the « Serpentine» stream;
  • The launch of a new Nature Conservancy association;
  • The recent creation of the Association of Friends of Trousers lake and the upcoming analysis of the lake’s water quality.

INFRASTRUCTURES
The committee met on 0ctober 31st 2006.  The following subjects were discussed:

  • Report on the work completed this year;
  • Priorities and goals for the maintenance of municipal roads to be proposed to the municipal council in preparation for the 2007 budget.
  • Mandate given to the municipal Inspector  to develop a management system which permits Council to follow the evolution of road maintenance;
  • Site visit to Baker Pond road where plans are being prepared to straighten a dangerous curve.

ADMINISTRATION
Tax accounts are now payable via internet, telephone and automated banking through the Caisse Desjardins. Other financial institutions will follow over the coming months.

URBANISM
Mr. Douglas Marsh was named to The Land Use Planning Committee.

PRINCIPAL RESOLUTIONS

Within the framework of a strategic plan relative to the protection of lakes and watercourses, the municipal council adopted a resolution to integrate several concrete actions, namely:

  • Active participation in all research and education projects targeting the protection of our lakes and watercourses such as the analysis of lakes and watersheds and the restoration of shorelines;
  • Completion of the inventory of septic systems;
  • Close watch over all work undertaken in proximity to lakes, watercourses and wetlands and rigorous application of existing environmental bylaws.

The Council adopted a resolution to hire Mr. Arturo Rea, architect for the Town Hall renovation project.    His offer of services includes the preliminary studies, plans and specifications, calls for tender as well as overseeing the construction work.

The next regular sitting of council will be at the Townhall in Bolton Centre on Monday December 4th 2006 starting at 7PM.
