Our Council Meetings and Commitees

May Council Meeting 2006

Highlights

Heritage, culture and recreation committee report
A first meeting of the cultural committee was held on April 6th to outline its main objectives.  José Ledoux was named as agent responsible for public communications. Within the master plan: ensure the preservation of the documents gathered over the past years during ‘Heritage Week’., support the efforts of the embellishment committee, encourage the reanimation of the St-Patrick’s Church Christmas concert, participate in the ‘Journées de la Culture Québécoises’, create an amateur choir, reinstate the Children’s Christmas party and find a special way to highlight the work of our volunteers.  Recruitment of members continues.

environment committee report
A meeting will be scheduled with representatives of the Quebec Ministry of Environment, the owners of the gravel pits and the members of the municipal environment committee.  The Ruiter Valley project which aims to involve school aged children in nature studies will be discussed at the same time.

Mr. Viateur Audet, the municipality’s representative on the inter municipal committee for the study of the development of an eco-centre, informs us that they are experiencing difficulties finding a site that meets our requirements.  A resolution was adopted providing funds to publish an advertisement looking for such a site.

infrastructure committee report
A meeting of the Infrastructure committee was held at the site of our new municipal park on April 26th in order to determine projects to be included in our request for funding within the framework of the MRC’s Rural Pact.  The director general invited the owners of the neighbouring lots to attend this meeting to allow them to voice their comments and concerns on the project.
Councillor Billy Woodard dug several test holes and invited contractors to provide the municipality with estimates for the excavation work to be done.
