PRINCIPAL RESOLUTIONS
The program of activities presented by the Val-de-Grâce inter municipal committee will be sent to citizens the week of January 19th, and registration will take place January 28th and 29th.
Resolutions were adopted to go ahead with the water landings and hiking trails as planned in the Missisquoi Valley Eco-Development Project.

As a principal client, the Municipality agreed to pay Axion Cable half of the costs related to phase 1 of the project to bring high-speed internet service to the Bolton Centre sector. Citizens not benefitting from phase 1 of the project will still have access to high speed internet on the community computers at the Town Hall. Axion Cable plans to gradually extend its service area to cover the whole municipality.

The Municipality has chosen a signature in the form of a logo from among the suggestions made by the citizens of East Bolton. The winning logo was designed by Marie-Andrée Lemieux, who will win the $500 prize by resolution of council.

MAYOR’S REPORT
A request was sent to the Transport Minister to add “Municipality of East Bolton” to the green sign at exit 106 off Autoroute 10.

The Mayor gave an update regarding the progress made in the name of the Municipality concerning the provincial government’s treatment of gravel pits and quarries benefitting from acquired rights, and the difficulty of obtaining compensation for the damage done to our local roads by gravel trucks.

A resolution was passed to donate $300 to the students of Val-de-Grâce elementary school to help them stage a musical comedy “La Vallée du Bonheur” with help from teachers and volunteers.

QUESTION PERIOD
One citizen wanted to know how the Municipality will communicate the news regarding high-speed internet to citizens. It was responded that the Municipality will use its usual methods, and that Axion Cable, as the service provider, will also communicate with citizens.

A citizen wanted to know how the members of the Planning Advisory Committee are chosen. The mayor explained the procedure for candidacy and selection.

The same citizen asked about the laws surrounding the septic system measuring program. The municipality’s program was explained, as well as that our main goal is to prevent any possible pollution from septic installations on our territory.

In answer to a citizen’s question, the garbage and recycling calendar will once again be sent out with the next Insight.

Concerning a proposal to create a committee concerned only with lakes and watercourses, it was responded to one citizen that Mrs. G. Breton is in charge of communicating the council’s response to the group who made the initial proposition.
