Our Council Meetings and Commitees

HIGHLIGHTS
FEBRUARY 7TH, 2011 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

The mayor, 5 councillors and 5 citizens were present.

The council has:

Administration

  • Authorization for the joint application to the RCM's Rural Pact for  the Missisquoi Valley;
  • Authorization for the purchase of a shredder in the amount of $ 875.00 plus tax;
  • A notice of motion was given for By-law 238-2011 dealing with the remuneration of elected officials;
  • Authorization for the Interim Executive Director to reach an agreement with Desjardins Access D Business Service;
  • Authorization for the posting of part-time administrative position;
  • Tabled a request to Canada Employment to hire two students for the summer.

Environment / Land Use Planning

  • Awarded Group Teknika two mandates, one for the revision of a By-law on roads
    construction and one for the elaboration of a By-Law  with property developers;

Culture and Heritage

  • Granted the cultural committee - for its literary meeting scheduled February 13 - a budget of $ 500.00

Infrastructure

  • Request for government contribution to the program on the tax for gas and the Quebec contribution;
  • Authorization for the preparation of a bid for High Speed Internet services for the
    municipality;
  • Approved a request to be sent to Municipality of Bolton-Ouest to limit the traffic on
    Baker Pond Road so as to become local delivery only;
  • Approved request for bids for the grading contract for our municipal roads;
  • Authorized Pierre Plante to develop a plan for the trapping of nuisance beaver and also call for tenders from various trappers.

Mayor's Report

  • MTQ: Request for information to purchase of their lot at the corner of Route 245 and Nicholas-Austin;
  • RCMP - web link available to know of the activities of surveillance along the border;
  • Meet with our legal advisors: Clarification on new rules stemming from the contract
    management policy, etc.;
  • The Mayor and council members offered wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. David
    Paige, husband of our employee Ms. Lillian Paige Gagnon and Mr. Bruno Franck, a
    resident of Lake Nick.

RCM's Report

  • Mont Orford: Explanation on the adopted model of a mixed enterprise company;
  • Cellular file - Tower Inventory: mandate was given;
  • Chemin des Cantons: The road realignment could pass in our area from Austin, then to Bolton-Centre in Bolton-South;
  • Grant of $ 33 803 from the Quebec Police;
  • Service area for the highway at Exit 115 - estimated completion date: October 2011;
  • Adoption of a new environmental policy.

Two question periods:
Questions and comments were sent to council on the following topics:

  • New tax of Public Safety;
  • Cadastral Reform;
  • Installation of bins in the Lake Nick area;
  • Clarification on the land acquired by Nature Conservancy on Baker Pond Road.
