HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FEBRUARY 4, 2008 COUNCIL MEETING The mayor, 5 councillors and 1 citizen were present. COMMITTEES CULTURE AND HERITAGE The committee “History of East Bolton in Images” was created. The goal of the committee is to showcase the historical heritage of the municipality, through documents from the municipality, the databases of public or private organizations, and citizens. The committee’s first mandate will be to create a permanent display at the Town Hall, from which further decoration of the building will expand. The committee will also develop sites on municipal territory which have historical and cultural significance for the area. The committee will examine the best means of applying the information and that of the municipality’s citizens and visitors. Any citizen interested in joining this committee is invited to contact the Town Hall. MAIN RESOLUTIONS Council decided to renew its participation in the concert series “Orford sur la Route” presented by the Orford Arts Centre. This organization will present one of its activities in East Bolton during its 2009 season. The intermunicipal agreement with the Val-de-Grâce school in Eastman was renewed for three years. This agreement allows citizens access to a variety of physical activity programs. The municipality decided to support Mr. Jacques Marcoux, former mayor of Potton, in his project – a cycling tour of the United States– by making a donation to the Mansonville Youth Centre and the Ken Jones Centre. MAYOR’S REPORT Les Bois Champigny and C. & G. Ducharme Inc. enterprises sent a letter to the municipality inquiring about the level of satisfaction with their quality of work on the property of a citizen, which was performed within an environmentally-friendly context. The mayor and municipal inspector met with representatives of both companies. The mayor suggested to the entrepreneurs that, since their work was satisfactory, they should be more present in discussions relating to the drawing up of bylaws concerning forestry so that they, as well as environmentalist groups, have a say in the protection of our forested areas.
