PRINCIPAL RESOLUTIONS
The Council voted to mandate the Memphremagog MRC to submit a project to the Municipal Affairs Minister for the Plugged-In Rural Communities Program and prepare a call for tenders to choose the high speed internet provider for the approved project.
MAYOR’S REPORT
Hydro Quebec’s Energy Wise Home Diagnostic campaign proposes partnerships with municipalities in order to encourage citizens to complete the home diagnostic, which allows clients to have an overview of their energy consumption. Hydro will pay the municipality $30 for each report received, and an additional $5 for each report received electronically. The money received will be put towards a project chosen by the municipality for the benefit of its citizens.
The mayor read letters received from individuals hoping to be candidates for the Planning Advisory Committee in 2010: Mrs. Nathalie Moirier, Mr. André Larochelle, and Mr. Charles Laurin. He also read a letter from Mr. James Eby, who is resigning from the committee and recommends that his wife, Mrs. Joan Westland Eby, take his place.
OTHER BUSINESS
The 2010 budget will be submitted for adoption at the special meeting of Council to be held December 21st, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
The municipal offices will be closed from December 24th to January 3rd, inclusively.
QUESTION PERIOD
One citizen asked if the December 21st, 2009 special meeting of Council to adopt the 2010 budget is a public meeting. The answer is yes.
A citizen asked about the public consultation procedures involved in the request to modify Entre cimes et racines’ Comprehensive Development Plan. The procedures are outlined in the Land Use Planning and Development Act.
The owner of a residence on Montée de Baker Pond Road thanked the Municipality for their speed and efficiency repairing the road following heavy rains which caused the property owner’s basement to flood. She also asked why the word “East” had been covered up on the municipal road signs. The story of the complaint received by the French Language Office was explained.
The mayor answered several questions about the skating rink project.
One person asked about the possibility of opening a day camp in East Bolton. Since we do not currently have the infrastructure necessary on our territory, the municipality will study the possibility of agreements with neighbouring municipalities, if there is enough demand.
